Someday

[Written at 2AM something, 12 October 2015]

Someday,
I’ll stop crying
When I hear your name
And you’re not there—
I wish you were…
But thank God, you’re not;
Someday,
I’ll stop wishing
You’d smile and say ‘hi’
Or even pass me by—
But I’d rather not;
Some days
I wish it was today.

Someday,
I’ll stop dreaming
Of what could have been,
Hoping love was in-between;
But someone else
Is in your mind.
Someday,
I’ll stop wondering
What I should have done,
What’s come undone…
Maybe it’s too late.
Some days,
I wish it was today.

Someday,
I’ll stop remembering
How you smile
And stilled my heart for a while;
I died each time
A memory lives.
Someday,
I’ll stop holding on,
Learn to breathe again
And love, fully love, and then
Smile, truly smile.
Some days,
I wish it was today.
